Regional Ride Map
Whether it be road, gravel or rail trails that tickle your fancy, the Upper Murray has it covered.
The High Country Rail Trail
Stretching over 80 km from Wodonga to Shelley, this famous historic rail trail can be navigated east to west or west to east. There’s also a self-contained 7.5 km section in beautiful Corryong – great for families or those looking for a short-and-sweet ride. If you want it easy, try the 20 km downhill roll from Shelley (once the highest railway station in Victoria) to Darbyshire – crossing historic and beautiful trestle bridges along the way. The return trip is not for the faint-hearted, rising hundreds of metres over the distance – that said, the Koetong Pub provides an excellent and welcome mid-point stop whichever direction you choose.
The Tooma Road Ride
Passing through the Murray Valley Highway and the Tooma Valley Road, this 68 km road loop from Tallangatta to Tooma and back, offers a mix of flat and hilly terrain. Steep climbs and rapid descents are rewarded with stunning vistas of the Upper Murray and the Snowy Mountains.
Towong Road Loop
A meandering 50 km road ride from Corryong to Towong and back, following the Murray River Road and the Shelley-Walwa Road. Mostly flat, with some gentle hills, this excellent trail boasts some of the best views of the Great Dividing Range and surrounding valleys. Swing by the Towong Racecourse or the Tintaldra Hotel for a cold one with a view!
